— Roachell wins to advance

Conway’s Summar Roachell advanced to the round of 32 with a 19-hole victory Wednesday at the U.S. Junior Girls Championship at The Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C.

Roachell, who qualified 16th for match play, advances to meet Haley Andreas of Pacific Grove, Calif., at 6:39 a.m. Central today.

On Wednesday, Roachell had to rally to defeat Karen Chung of Livingston, N.J.

Chung won the third, seventh and 12th holes and held a 3-up lead with five holes remaining. Fraiche wins

Former UALR golfer Mallory Fraiche is off to a good start in professional golf playing in Sweden on the Nordea Tour.

Fraiche shot even par 219 over three rounds and won the IT Architects Ladies Open at Botkyrka Golf Club.

She won by one stroke over amateur Malin Jansson.

She won 40,000 Swedish Krona, which is the equivalent of $5,446 U.S.

Fraiche is playing in Sweden with former UALR golfer Sara Wikstrom. She has finished third and first in her first two Nordea Tour appearances.

Mabry ousted

Little Rock’s Matthew Mabrey was eliminated from match play Wednesday at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.

Mabrey, who qualified 45th for match play, lost 1-up to Zachary Wright of Phoenix, Ariz. Mabrey never led in the match, but he cut a 2-up lead in half when he won the 13th hole with a birdie. But Wright won the 15th when Mabrey bogeyed to get the lead backto 2-up.

Smith wins by 10

Hunter Smith shot a pair of 67s and won the Randy Beaver Junior Invitational at Rolling Hills Country Club in Cabot.

Smith’s total of 134 was 10 strokes better than Brik Brauburger and 14 better than Tucker Leech.

Katie Webb shot 69-72-141 and won the girls division by nine strokes over Kaylee Benton.

Peyton Herald won the boys 14-15 division by five strokes and Kaleb Coble and Whit Parker tied for the victory in the boys 12-13 division.
