PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: NASA’s Work Pays Dividends

— Our fabulous rewards from scientific efforts are given awfully short notice or applause these days in the world of news.

The computer “spinoffs” of today came from the NASA space program. Everything from MP3 players to GPS are a result of that effort. Then there are fabrics we wear, and materials and processes of modern manufacturing which we can’t even name.

I would like to mention how grateful I was on the celebrated Fourth that the peacefully united Russian and U.S. space folks were able to dock the Russianlaunched supply craft on the second attempt.

I was not sure we would ever see these two nations joining brilliant and precious minds inuseful endeavors. Thank you, God.

HELP WANTED, APPRECIATED

Dear Saints of Benton County, I want to thank you and for working to see that the needs of those who are in need of a hand-up receive it through your support of the Salvation Army here in Benton County.

Our shelter is starting to see a rise in guests as the spring weather ends and the heat rises. We also start to see an increase in requests for utility and food assistance as parents who depend on the mealsprovided at school to get them through the week must provide those meals at home during the summer; and with more people having to do more, that leaves us scratching the bottom of the barrel. However, God will and has supplied what is needed to minister to those in need, and our area churches and the caring saints of Benton County are a mighty way God uses to help us meet those needs.

I want to thank everyone who has put God’s word into action and is helping us, and ask those who have and may be able to help now to do so.
