— A local man was arrested Monday after a homeless woman accused him of sexually assaulting her inside her tent, according to a police report.

Terry Lee Boatright, 37, of 626 Betty Jo Drive was arrested on a felony charge of rape.

According to a preliminary arrest report, a woman told police Boatright sexually assaulted her while she was sleeping in her tent, located in south Fayetteville, on Sunday night. She said she was intoxicated, according to the report.

Police say Boatright initially denied the allegations to the police, but later admitted to sexually assaulting the woman while she slept.

He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on the listed charge Tuesday, along with misdemeanor charges of failure to pay fines and cost and obstructing governmental operations. His bond was set at $1,148. Boatright is expected to make his first appearance in Washington County Circuit Court today.
