Faith Cowboy Challenge Set This Weekend

— The Race of Faith Cowboy Challenge will be held Saturday and Sunday in Pea Ridge.

The Arkansas Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and Race of Faith Ministries are the hosts.

Cowboy Challenge is an equine sport event. Horse and rider maneuver together through an obstacle course with a variety tasks and situations along the way. Judging is based on speed, control and the ability to complete and/or attempt each obstacle.

The idea behind the weekend event is to bring together people who enjoy riding and working with horses to exhibit their horsemanship skills in a fun, family-friendly competition and to raise money and awareness for the Arkansas Special Olympics Program.

The event will be hosted by Doug and Rozella McKinney at their ranch, 1735 Clark St. in Pea Ridge.

The race is open to 50 contestants. Registrations is $75. Late registrations will be taken beginning at 8 a.m. on the morning of the event if there are slots available.

A walk-through of the course will be held at 9 a.m. Races begin at 10 a.m.

A negative Coggins test will be required at arrival for all horses.
