Emergency officials prepared for storm

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/WILLIAM MOORE Major Tim Williford, Northwest Arkansas Area Commander for the Salvation Army, puts up an extra cot sent by the divisional headquarters in Oklahoma City in preparation for winter weather Thursday, January 28, 2010 in the Activities Center at the Salvation Army Corps Community Center in Fayetteville. The center has also been stocking up on food.

Emergency planners in Northwest Arkansas were finalizing winter storm plans Thursday that included setting up shelters for the general public, the homeless or those with medical needs if parts of the area lose power.
