HOT SPRINGS Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs is conducting a soft opening for its expanded electronic gambling parlor.
The new area has a casino-like atmosphere and contains 850 gambling stations. Games include poker, blackjack and craps, along with other “electronic games of skill”
Live thoroughbred racing begins next week, and the track wanted to work out any bugs in the new area before the influx of patrons.
The track has added a buffet in the gambling parlor as well as penny slots. The electronic wagering area is separated from the horse racing segment and is under the south end of the grandstand.
Live racing begins Jan. 15 and runs through April 10.
