A restaurant owner from Springdale says he’s running for lieutenant governor.

Mark Darr, who owns The Mad Pizza Co. in Rogers, announced his decision Tuesday night. Last March, the Republican formed an exploratory committee for a potential run.

Darr said he’s met his fundraising goal for the end of the year and has $152,000 cash on hand for his bid. Darr’s campaign said $150,000 of that was money Darr loaned his campaign in December.

Democratic Lt. Gov. Bill Halter is running for re-election but has also been mentioned as a potential candidate for the U.S. Senate. Halter has said he’s focusing on raising money for his re-election but hasn’t said whether he might challenge Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln.
