GUEST COMMENTARY Gambling With Lottery Money

The lottery, or more specifically how to spend the resulting scholarship dollars, has been a topic of much discussion lately. Lottery sales are off to a roaring start, much like the newest store in town or the latest ride at your favorite amusement park. Chances are high that the newness wears off and the lines go down to a steady but predictable level. Now suppose the store owner, after the first two weeks of almost overwhelming business, begins immediate construction to double the size of their facility. Would you be ready to invest in this venture or loan them the money to expand based on a couple weeks or even a couple months of sales?
