Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Wednesday included: The J.M. Smucker Co., a profit of $135.5 million, or $1.14 a share, up from $77.9 million, or 68 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 3 percent to $1.21 billion. Shares fell $1.44 to close at $58.67.
