‘Deeply sorry,’ Toyota boss says in D.C.

Lawmakers lambaste automaker for slow response to safety lapses

Toyota Chief Executive Officer Akio Toyoda apologized personally and repeatedly Wednesday to the United States and American Toyota owners for safety lapses that have led to motorists’ deaths and recalls of 8.5 million vehicles.
