LIVE ON STAGE FEATURES NATIONAL, LOCAL PERFORMERS

Singin’ in the Rain.” “Mary Poppins.” “Chicago.” “Grease.” “Hairspray.”
Eleven cast members will perform music and dance numbers from some of the most well-known movie moments in “Red Hot Hollywood,” a revue coming to the Arend Arts Center in Bentonville at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Presented by Live On Stage in NWA!, the show will recreate movie performances by Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Julie Andrews, Judy Garland and more and feature adaptations of songs like “My Heart Will Go On,” “Take My Breath Away” and “A Whole New World.”
On Sunday, the nonprofit performing arts organization will also introduce its 2010-2011 season. Patrons can buy season tickets for the five shows - which are always at 2 p.m. Sundays - for $65 on orbefore July 4 ($75 afterward).
The upcoming season features:
! Dallas Brass - Oct. 3: One of America’s foremost musical ensembles, the group has established a unique blend of traditional brass instruments with a full complement of drums and percussion. Dallas Brass’ repertoire ranges from classical to Dixieland, swing to Broadway and Hollywood to patriotic.
! John Davidson - Nov. 14: The television, theater and film star will present an up-close and personal vocal and banjo performance of his favorite songs and stories from his prominent career.
! New Christy Minstrels - Feb. 27: The world-famous seven-member folk group made its national television debut on “The Andy Williams Show” more than 44 years ago.
Since then, the Minstrels have won Grammy Awards, made numerous gold records and entertained at the White House.
Sherri Seiden - April 3: A classic American baritone, Narducci will perform songs of legendary heroes and villains from Broadway to Hollywood, including “Don Quixote,” “Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde” and “The Phantom of the Opera.” Seiden, a soprano known for her sparkling voice, was in the original cast of the first national tour of “Beauty and the Beast” as well as singing the starring role of Christine in the European tour of “The Phantom of the Opera.”
! Jim Witter: The Piano Men - May 1: The multimedia “rockumentary” is a parallel musical journey of the songs, piano stylings and voices of Billy Joel and Elton John. Creator and performer Witter will be supported by a slide and video presentation as well as bass, guitar, keyboards and drums.
The remaining shows in the current season are the Byron Stripling Quartet on April 11 and former New York City police officer Daniel Rodriguez on May 16.
Tickets to individual shows cost $25 for adults and $5 for students, including college students with a picture I.D.
Before each show, the organization showcases young local performers in a preconcert. Performing before “Red Hot Hollywood” on Sunday will be the Rogers High School String Quartet at 1:45 p.m.
Live on Stage in NWA!, which started out as the Village Performing Arts Association and is about to enter its 35th year, will again offer several music and dance scholarships to graduatingBenton County high school or home-schooled seniors. The deadline to apply is April 1, and interested students may contact their school guidance counselors for application forms or contact Joan Groves at 855-7109.
