Russia ally leads president vote

Ukraine opposition leader holds advantage over prime minister

Ukraine’s Central Election Commission reported early today that pro-Russian opposition leader Viktor Yanukovych was leading Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko by 52 percent to 42.7 percent in the country’s presidential runoff with 18 percent of the vote counted.
