A Harvard University professor said Friday students should be allowed to enroll in a “virtual school” at the same time they are enrolled in a physical school to get the best education.
Paul E. Peterson, a government professor, cited the Florida Virtual School, directed by Julie Young, as a successful example of blending physical school and virtual school for the benefit of the students.
A virtual school is one in which course work is delivered to students entirely online, often in the students’ homes. Attendance, teacher interaction and daily lessons are conducted online, but students also use physical material and off-line tools as well.
