CLAY CLASSES POPULAR AT COMMUNITY CREATIVE CENTER

Northwest Arkansas Community Creative Center Executive Director Susan Hutchcroft shows What’s Up! reporter Sara Sullivan how to hold her hands when “coning” the clay on a potter’s wheel. About half of the center’s art classes focus on clay.
I had seen it done several times before. I had watched, mesmerized, as clay artists would lean over a spinning potter’s wheel, seemingly effortlessly directing the slick mound up, down, out — their still, barely moving hands creating smooth, fluid motion in the clay.
