PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Religion Should Not Divide Us

While the proposed Islamic Community Center near Ground Zero is miles away, the feelings of tension are just as strong here in Northwest Arkansas as they are in New York. A friend of mine recently commented that she had not seen America this divided since the civil rights movement in the 1960s. I have to admit, I am too young to remember that era, but I can say that I have not seen us this close to violence in my 36 years on this earth. What troubles me even more is that it is mainly targeted against those who are not white, heterosexual Christians.

I think since we are all related coming from Adam and Eve. we need to stop this family bickering and just get along.

We need to take out those black sheep that harm our families. Islamic extremist, racist, those burning religious buildings or blowing up federal buildings. God, Buddah or Allah if you like, gave us a brain to use for doing what is right.
