Paid Parking System Gets Mixed Reactions
EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT PROGRAM HAS LITTLE PARTICIPATION AS SOME LOOK FOR CHEAPER ALTERNATIVES

Daniel Wolf, a University of Arkansas student from Conway, prepares to pay for parking Saturday at a kiosk at the northern end of the Walton Arts Center parking lot on West Dickson Street after visiting the entertainment district in Fayetteville.
Paid parking in the Dickson Street entertainment district could have some unplanned side effects -- like healthier and more toned restaurant service staff.
THE RATES
Dickson Street
Entertainment District
Free, 2 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: 50 cents per hour, $3 maximum
Monday through Friday 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.: $1 per hour, $5 maximum
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.: 50 cents per hour, $3 maximum
Saturday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.: $1 per hour, $5 maximum
Sunday, 2 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Free
Sunday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.: 50 cents per hour, $3 maximum
Sunday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday: $1 per hour, $5 maximum

I'm thinking Clubhaus Fitness will not agree that in exchange for a gym membership you get to take up one of their parking spaces for 50 hours a week.

Ahhh, further taxation on the people by the most surprising means. Let's charge taxpayers to park on streets and lots that they already own!

x3 What city do you live in, where all you have to do is pay taxes and your a city owner? Is this true even if you rent? Is sales tax enough, or do you have to own land? What if I come to your town and pay sales tax, do I become a owner of your city to?
