Eastern Corridor Public Meetings Scheduled

— The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department is scheduled to hold public meetings on a proposed eastern corridor from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Rooms 227 and 228 at the Jones Center in Springdale.

A second meeting is slated from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Heritage High School.

The eastern corridor, a five-lane highway connecting Arkansas 16 in Fayetteville to U.S. 62 in Rogers, has been on the master plans of the Highway Department and the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission for more than 30 years, officials said. The corridor, if built, would alleviate traffic on U.S. 71B.

There is no time frame for construction of the road.
