Group Discusses Transportation Needs In Northwest Arkansas

A panel of transportation experts identified public input as a driving force behind alternative transportation development.

The League of Women Voters of Washington County invited the group to speak about transportation needs in Northwest Arkansas on Wednesday at the Pat Walker Center for Seniors. The event aimed at providing an overview of transportation options, costs and the planning process.

Gary DalPorto, planning and program development team leader for the Arkansas division of the Federal Highway Administration, said transportation planning should reflect a community’s vision. The process, he said, should include a consideration of strategies, diverse viewpoints, collaboration with relevant transportation-related organizations and meaningful involvement of the public.
