— Man arrested

in wife's death

A 49-year-old man has been arrested after his wife was found stabbed to death inside a Tulsa hotel room.

Tulsa County jail records show Billy Glenn was arrested about 11:45 a.m. Saturday.

According to a Tulsa police arrest report, authorities arrived at the hotel just before 6 a.m. and found the woman dead from a single stab wound. They also found a filet knife in a sink.

Glenn told police he and his wife had returned to the hotel room after drinking and that he blacked out, the report said, and when Glenn woke up, he found her body.

Glenn remembered arguing with his wife and said they were the only people in the room, according to the report.

leaves man dead

LAWTON, Okla. - Lawton police said a man they believe was involved in a home invasion has been found shot to death inside the home.

Police said the home invasion happened early Friday and that when they arrived, they found the body of Michael Wermy, 36.

Tulsa teen killed

after argument

TULSA - A 16-year-old Memorial High School student has died after he was shot moments after getting off a school bus on the city's northeast side, authorities said.

Tulsa police said Jacob Barnes, a freshman at the school, died Friday night.

The shooting happened about 4:45 p.m.

Tulsa Police Capt. Karen Tipler said witnesses told authorities that Barnes was walking with other students when a late-model gold Chevrolet Tahoe pulled alongside. The people in the vehicle exchanged words with Barnes before a backseat passenger shot Barnes three times, Tipler said.

Witnesses told police four or five people were in the vehicle.

Tulsa Public Schools spokesman Tami Marler said the school bus had pulled away from the area before the shooting.

KINGSTON, Mo. - The wife of a former northwest Missouri sheriff has been charged with stealing.

The Missouri attorney general's office charged Marie K. Brelsford, 48, with one felony charge of stealing more than $500 but less than $25,000. She is the wife of former Caldwell County Sheriff Kirby Brelsford.

The St. Joseph News Press reported that Marie Brelsford had been a Caldwell County deputy clerk responsible for payroll and other financial payments and records. She lost her job in February.

County Clerk Beverly Bryant said a state audit report released earlier this month reveals the problems. The report includes overpayments to the sheriff's office, including $725 to Kirby Brelsford for a training course he didn't attend.

No charges have been filed against the former sheriff.

Marie Brelsford has posted bond.

Volunteers give

zoo a makeover

The Little Rock Zoo has received a makeover because of the work of about 150 volunteers from two churches.

Members from the Rock Creek Church and St. Mark Church spent time at the zoo Saturday, helping to mow, trim, rake, plant, mulch and pick up trash.

Zoo employee J.J. Muehlhausen said the zoo has only one full-time landscaper so volunteers are necessary to help maintain the grounds at the 34-acre facility.
