FAYETTEVILLE — Thousands of motorcycle riders and visitors have rolled into Fayetteville for the 10th annual Bikes Blues & BBQ rally and local police report only a few minor problems.
The most serious criminal activity since bikers rolled into town Wednesday appears to be unrelated to the biker rally. A motorcycle that was reported stolen Friday was unrelated to the motorcycle rally, officials said.
Only four accidents had been reported byFayetteville police as of Saturday morning. Ten people were arrested for public intoxication, Five citations were issued for prohibited parking, four citations for revving, two for illegal possession of alcohol and one for trespassing, according to police.
"There were a few disturbances but no injuries and nothing major," said Sgt. Bill Phelan of the Fayetteville Police Department's community policing division.
Sgt. Verna Whittington of the Washington CountySheriff's Office said Saturday that very few problems were reported when officers held their morning briefing of the night's activity.
"It was a very good night last night according the officers we relieved," she said. "We had a few arrests, but nothing out of the ordinary for a Friday night."
As of late Saturday afternoon, bookings into the county jail indicted no major criminal activity in Fayetteville or surrounding areas as a result of the motorcycle rally.
