Where I live: I live in Springdale in an old house that was built in the '40s out of World War II salvage material. It has been updated and remodeled over the last 60 years. We've moved a wall, put in new windows for energy efficiency, painted and wallpapered. There is no grass in our yard. The entire yard is either planted with flowers or is a bark path between the flowers.

Occupation: I'm an insurance salesperson. I sell health insurance, life insurance and long-term plans. It's my 25th year in the business. I'm 65, but I choose to keep going. I also serve on the board of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale and Victory Walk Inc., a nonprofit that helps people with spinal chord injuries with therapy and socialization.

My favorite space: In church on Sunday morning.

Why? It's peaceful and tranquil, and it gives me courage and strength. We have been very involved with St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springdale since our marriage in 1965. It's our home - a spiritual and emotional home. I'm an [English as a Second Language] teacher at my church, and enjoy helping others learn English. In the beginning, it's just survival. I try to make them long-term students.

If I could do one thing to improve this space, I would: Encourage a more welcoming attitude.
