GULF SOUTH: Reddies trample Muleriders

— Henderson State rolled over Southern Arkansas 51-17 before 3,167 on a drizzly Thursday night at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium, putting up 322 yards rushing against the Muleriders and winning their second consecutive game.

Junior Stefon Ceaser led the Reddies with 171 yards on 12 carries, which evened out to just more than 14 yards per rushing attempt. Kenard Springer added 69yards on 14 carries, while Marcus Jamison scored two rushing touchdowns.

Thursday's yardage total was the most yards rushing in a single game by a Henderson State team since Scott Maxfield took over as coach in 2005.

Junior college transfer Nick Hardesty made his first career start Thursday and completed 10 of 15 passes for 117 yards. Maxfield said earlier he would play Hardesty and redshirt freshman Nathan Nall, who has started two games this season, but Nall only entered late in the fourth quarter and attempted two passes.
