Fashion show will have new features

— Organizers of an upcoming fashion show, titled "Everything Old Is New Again," said the annual show will be different this year than in prior years.

Sponsored by the Republican Women of Bentonville, the show will get under way at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Center for Nonprofits (the building formerly occupied by St. Mary's Hospital), at 1200 W. Walnut St. in Rogers.

Organizers are keenly aware that the show is taking place at a time ofwidespread economic uncertainty, and partly because of that, they have reduced ticket prices to $20 each as a result. Still, the show will have some new features, club member Karen Wenzel said.

"We are collaborating with the culinary arts college at (Northwest Arkansas Community College) to put on the fashion show in their venue (at the Center for Nonprofits in Rogers) using the student chefs to prepare the meal," club member Karen Wenzel said.

A portion of the money raised will go to the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County, and some singleparent scholars will be on hand at the show to talk about what the program means to them, Wenzel said.

The show will feature clothes from Dillard's, JC Penney, the Dress Barn, Wal-Mart, Helping Hands and Sensible Chic, a resale shop, club founder Olga Berg said.

Some area political figures have agreed to model clothes, and the show will feature both men and women models, she said.

There will be a silent auction, as well as door prizes, Berg said.
