— Tiger Tailgate set for Oct. 3

The Thomas Jefferson Elementary School PTO will host its second annual Tiger Tailgate from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 3.

The festivities will include jump houses, games, food, music and a silent auction.

The public is invited to join the school in the celebration. The event will take place at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, 810 Bella Vista Road in Bentonville.

Tickets are $30 for a family pass or $10 per person. Food will be an additional cost.

All funds raised will go toward programs for the students of Thomas Jefferson.

Howl O Ween at Murphy Dog Park

Murphy Dog Park in Rogers will host Howl O Ween from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be prizes for best costume, scariest concept, most creative costume, and owner and pet costumes. The dog park is at First Street and Nursery Road.

Big Wag Bakery will sell registration tickets, and all early birds will receive tickets for the prize drawing. Registration tickets may also be purchased at the gate on the day of the event. All tickets are $5. Vendors in costume will set up trick-or-treaters stations, where dogs can pick up items from shampoo samples to dog cookies and toys.

Halloween Spooktacular is Oct. 25

The third annual Halloween Spooktacular will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Bella Vista Library.

The celebration will include games, drawings, crafts and story-telling.

The event, for children of all ages, is open to the public. Attendees are not required to be library or association members.

The library is at 11 Dickens Place, next to the Bella Vista Baptist Church off Arkansas Highway 340 East.

Additional parking will be available in the church parking lot.

Auditions being held for 'Wonderful Life'

Auditions for the Rogers Little Theater KidWorks production of the holiday classic "It's a Wonderful Life" will be held one night only, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Victory Theater, 116 S. Second St. in Rogers.

The production will cast adults and children to play George and Mary Hatch, Clarence, Uncle Billy, Violet, George and Harry Bailey as young boys, the Bailey children and, of course, the Scrooge-like villain, Mr. Potter.

Roles, with age ranges and where a character plays more than one role are indicated: men (age 18 and up), women (age 18 and up), boys (8-18), girls (8-18), George, Mary, young George/Pete, Janie, Clarence, Violet, newsboy/Tommy, Zuzu, Gower/Mr. Welch, Mother Bailey, Harry/aide/Sam, Aunt Tilly, Bert, secretary/Ms. Hatch, Ernie, Miss Andrews, Uncle Billy, Mrs. Thompson, Potter, Mrs. Martini, Martini and Mr. Carter.

Arkansas Kids' show today, Saturday

A junior version of a Disney classic "Beauty and the Beast" will be at the Arend Arts Center at Bentonville High School today and Saturday.

The group Arkansas Kids, a division of American Kids, will perform the musical "Beauty and the Beast Jr.," which has a similar plot to the Disney movie from more than a decade ago.

The "beauty" is Belle, and she offers herself to replace her father, who was held captive by the Beast. Belle and the Beast are at odds initially, but eventually come to an understanding, then fall in love.

The musical will have four performances: 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. today, mostly for school-age children - tickets are $3; and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday for all ages - tickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults.

Bellview carnival is Oct. 2

The Bellview Elementary School Fall Carnival will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 2.

There will be carnival-style booths, balloon artists, a raffle for students, a bouncysuper slide and an inflatable obstacle course.

Tickets cost 50 cents each.

The school is at 5400 Bellview Road in Rogers.

Resume workshop on Wednesday

There will be a free resume workshop at noon Wednesday at the Rogers Public Library.

The workshop will be hosted by Tutor.com and presented by resume expert Barbara Safani.

Governor makes appointments

Gov. Mike Beebe has announced the following appointments to boards and commissions:

◊Dr. Marianne Neighbors of Lowell to the Northwest Technical Institute Board of Directors to replace Marilyn Dotson. The appointment will expire July 21, 2014.

◊Jamin Snarr of Rogers reappointed to the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council. The appointment will expire July 1, 2012.
