Rogers Republican running for US Senate

— Republican Buddy Rogers announced on his Web site Tuesday that he is running for the U.S. Senate in 2010.

"I am running for the Senate because I believe Arkansans deserve a senator who represents Arkansas values all the time, not just occasionally as re-election nears. With a radical administration in place and an irresponsible Congress often making the administration's bad ideas worse, Arkansas and the nation can no longer afford our go-along, get-along Sen. [Blanche] Lincoln. : I have a vision of genuine change, change : from all-controlling government that destroys jobs to a limited government that enables the private sector to create jobs, and change to defend, rather than to destroy, the unborn ... and the poor," Rogers said on his Web site, www.buddyforarkansas.com.

Rogers joins a GOP field that includes state Sen. Kim Hendren, of Gravette, and state Sen. Gilbert Baker, of Conway.
