Married officers die in murder-suicide

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Police in a Detroit suburb said an off-duty officer fatally shot his wife in the parking lot of a library and then fatally shot himself.

Sgt. Mark Gajeski of the Canton Township Public Safety Department said they both were Detroit officers who lived in Canton Township.

Police said the woman, 33-year-old Patricia Williams, was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital Tuesday. Gajeski said the man, 36-yearold Edward Williams II, died later after being taken off life support.

Gajeski said police had responded to a disturbance at the couple's home over the weekend. He said the woman was going to the Canton Township police station, which is near the library, when she was shot.
