Lotsa bikes, blues and BBQ

— It's . . . baaaaaack! Beginning midweek, those in and around downtown Fayetteville and atop its hills will hear the familiar thunder and roar well before actually laying eyes on the thousands of gleaming motorcycles convening for the 10th annual Bikes, Blues and Barbecue fall festival. Yee-ha!

Although the weather forecast calls for rain and more rain through the weekend, there's sure to be plenty worth seeing and hearing at the festival this year .

So grab an umbrella, a light coat just for a little insurance (and maybe a couple of ear plugs if you're sensitive that way), and head out for your favorite event or events on the program.

There are two national convocations of quite different cultures that make Fayetteville a destination point for tens of thousands of visitors across America. Every summer, a great host arrives by car and plane to fill local hotels and find out just how the nation's largest retailer, Wal-Mart, has done during the past year-and be let in on its plans for the year ahead. Every fall, even more visitors from afar congregate at Fayetteville with their fellow rip-roarin' bikers. Good fellowship reigns. Most years.

As in each of the past five years, this year's BB&B will see bands playing all across downtown and at the Arkansas Music Pavilion, a world-class barbecue competition, lots of restaurants offering great fare, and many a toast at local watering holes and even a beer garden-not to mention the sheer spectacle of all those cycles from all over in one place at one time.

Threatening skies aren't likely to darken the festive mood. At BB&B in Fayetteville, good times are an invincible tradition.
