Election Commission preparing for school-board runoff, annexation

— Benton County election commissioners are getting ready for at least three separate elections over the next few weeks.

Commissioners, who oversee all elections in Benton County, completed most of the county's schoolboard elections Sept. 15.

The only exception was the school-board race in Pea Ridge, where four candidates sought the sameseat on Sept. 15. There will be a runoff Oct. 6 between the top two vote-getters, Angie Pratt and Joshua Ramsey.

On Sept. 15, Pratt got 118 votes, or 43.38 percent; Ramsey got 116 votes, or 42.65 percent.

The winner of any election is required to get at least 50 percent of the total votes cast, plus one vote, so a runoff is required, Election Commissioner E.J. Miller said.

Early voting will begin Sept. 29 in the Pea RidgeSchool Board runoff.

Soon, commissioners will also oversee two annexation elections - one in Garfield and the other in Sulphur Springs - on Oct. 13.

Early voting will begin Oct. 6 for the Garfield annexation election and on the same day for the Sulphur Springs annexation election.

In any of the three elections, qualified voters may cast their ballots early during regular business hours at one of the County Clerk's Office locations in Bentonville, Rogers or Siloam Springs.

The Bentonville office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the Rogers and Siloam Springs offices are open from 8 a.m. to noon and from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The County Clerk's Offices are at 215 E. Central, Suite 217, in Bentonville; at 300 W. Poplar St., Suite 2, in Rogers; and at 707 S. Lincoln St., Suite C, in Siloam Springs.
