— Bald eagle to be released Sunday

The second presentation of the Friends of Hobbs Speaker Series will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday at the new Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area visitors center on Arkansas Highway 12 just east of Rogers.

Lynn Sciumbato, owner/ operator of the Morning Star Wildlife Rescue of Gravette, will present her family-friendly "Raptor Rescue" program with several live species of the familiar raptors of northwest Arkansas.

At 2 p.m., following her presentation and in keeping with the spirit of National Public Lands Day, Sciumbato will release intothe wild a bald eagle she recently nursed back to health. The program and eagle release are free and open to the public.

Pancake breakfast set for Oct. 16

The Methodist Men of the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista will hold their semiannual pancake breakfast from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 16. The church is at 20 Boyce Drive.

The menu will be pancakes, ham or sausage, applesauce and milk or coffee for $5.

Proceeds will be distributed to local charities.
