Despite headaches, you still should celebrate the Constitution

Myriad reasons are behind the difficulty congressional Democrats face in their efforts to pass meaningful health care reform legislation before the end of 2009. One reason lost on many observers is the simple fact that the Founding Fathers didn't want major changes to our way of life to be easy. The brainy likes of Madison and Jefferson were convinced the people empowered to effect wholesale changes should be directly accountable to the American people.
