ERA needs clarification A recent letter stated an opinion that the Equal Rights Amendment is "beautifully succinct." The ERA reads: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex." The writer also stated that conservative groups "mistakenly" believe that the amendment will have unintended consequences.
