Fire leaves hole in historic Morrilton

Three buildings destroyed, others damaged

The remains of the old E.E. Mitchell Company building smolder Wednesday morning in downtown Morrilton after an overnight fire destroyed the property.

Wanda Alvey stared Wednesday at the smoldering pile of charred bricks and boards that used to be her antique shop. Then she started to cry.
