Dear Friend, It was wholly a pleasure to get your kind offer of a carton or two of old books that you just picked up at a garage sale. I don't dare even look at them, or I'll wind up taking them home and adding them to the sprawling collection of unread volumes that are already staring me down from every shelf of my den. Like an infestation of words.
