Hundreds of people participated in the 5K race at the sixth annual Run for a Child at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers on Monday. The event helped raise funds for emergency shelters that care for abused and neglected children, as well as prevention programs that reduce abuse and neglect in the country. The race committee hoped to raise $200,000 to benefit the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter.
More than 1,000 people hit the streets here early Monday morning, but they weren't trying to get to work.
