Plotted to burn a cross, 2 admit

Wanted woman gone, files say

Arkansas State Police arson investigator Shannon Shepherd and two others looks over the remains of Loretta Marie Slaughter-Shirah's home in June 2008. Before her rent house burned down, a cross was burned in the yard. The men indicted in the cross-burning case were not accused in the house burning.

The last of the five men indicted on civil-rights offenses admitted their roles Wednesday in federal court in a cross burning.
