Bentonville Alderman Brad Crain resigned following a promotion that will take him to Oklahoma, but a new state statute that requires his replacement to be named by next week was the biggest surprise

On Monday morning, Bentonville Mayor Bob McCaslin was thinking through the steps of arranging a special election. He had recently received notice that Alderman Brad Crain would be vacating his post on the Bentonville City Council because of a promotion that will take him and his family to Bartlesville, Okla.
