Learning from firefighter deaths

The Rogers fire chief suspects the California deaths will prompt more discussion of driving practices.

Half a country away, among orange trees, red rocks and a smoke-filled sky, a vehicle careened off a road in California's Mount Gleason area Sunday afternoon. According to the Los Angeles Times, two firefighters in that vehicle died in the ensuing crash, en route to fight growing forest fires.
