Broadway, Adams join Hogs at practice

Posted: September 1, 2009 at 4:58 a.m.

— Having given the Razorbacks off Saturday and Sunday following last Friday night's scrimmage, Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino launched the season's first game-week with a Monday night closed practice at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Arkansas kicks off its season hosting the Missouri State Bears at 6 p.m. Saturday at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

Before media was removed after the practice's first 20 minutes, it was noticed that first-team cornerback Ramon Broadway and first-team wide receiver Joe Adams both were at the workout.

Broadway was arrested Sunday night on a charge of failure to appear to settle a traffic matter regarding proof of automobile insurance. He is listed on the Razorbacks' depth chart released Monday to start at boundary cornerback against Missouri State.

Adams had missed last week's last three practices because of a sore hamstring though he actually was doing some warmup drills before last Friday night's scrimmage, offensive coordinator/receivers coach Paul Petrino said Monday.

"He's coming along good," Paul Petrino said."He ran around early before the scrimmage the other day and did our routes and some of the pregame. He probably could have played that day but we held him out. He'll be full go."

Petrino was asked about last Friday's scrimmage which was closed to media and the public.

"It was good," he said. "We did not play well on offense the very first drive. But after that we did a nice job of moving the ball. I think Coach was real happy with the defense that they flew around and hit people. It was competitive. Probably more snaps and more competitive than sometimes that last scrimmage has been in the past. We were happy with it."
