Justices rule confession of area killer to be valid

A Washington County man who fled to Honduras before being caught and later sentenced to life in prison for the death of his girlfriend lost his appeal Thursday at the Arkansas Supreme Court. Jerry Donald Sykes asphyxiated Sandra Stokes in March 2007 by binding her hands behind her back and her mouth with duct tape.
