The traditional 4-3 and 3-4 defensive looks are tried and true, but they aren’t for everyone.
The Farmington Cardinals’ smaller, quicker personnel dictated a shift in tack during the offseason. Instead of foisting the conventional on his defense, head coach Mike Adams adopted a scheme that few teams employ on the high school level.
The 3-3 stack doesn’t have the currency of the 4-3 or 3-4, but it’s agreed with a Cardinal (5-2-1, 4-1) defense that’s allowed fewer than 12 points per game and a paltry 11 offensive touchdowns through Week 8.
The results have been better than Adams anticipated, creating an excitement that’s permeated the entire unit.
