One of baseball's fallen heroes can still score points for honesty

Ever since his memorable appearance at a 2005 congressional hearing during which he refused to answer questions about the kinds of performance-enhancing supplements he used during his playing days (“I’m not here to talk about the past” ), Mark McGwire has been about as visible as Osama bin Laden. The former slugger, who made millions for his home-run hitting prowess during a brilliant 16-year career, has stayed almost entirely out of the public eye.
