Drake Field flu clinic moved to Jones Center

Plans to have an additional free mass flu clinic in Washington County will not transpire, as expected inclement weather has canceled plans to host a drive-thru clinic at Fayetteville’s Drake Field.
Members of the Washington County Local Emergency Planning Committee, along with other health care and law enforcement officials, have held several meetings over the past few months to plan the mass clinic. This year, it was decided to have a second site added on the free clinic day. After discussions on several area locations, planners chose Drake Field and the Jones Center in Springdale as the two sites.
But after reviewing the weather reports for Thursday's clinics, health department officials and clinic organizers have decided to pull the plug on the Drake Field location, which was planned as an outdoor, drive-thru site.
The clinic at Drake Field, which was planned to run from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today, will officially be moved to the Jones Center. That means all volunteers working at the Drake Field site will now be asked to work out of the Jones Center.
The Jones Center location will now be open today from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The clinic is free to the public, but any county resident with Medicare, Medicaid or ARKids First can bring their cards to have the vaccine filed with their insurance.
