A herd of giraffes runs in the proposed Bandingalo National Park, which is part of the Boma-Jonglei ecosystem in south Sudan and the site of one of the world’s largest mammal migrations.
BOMA, Sudan — He grew up here, became a rebel here, and one day recently he was flying low across a vast grassy savanna in southeastern Sudan, now a park warden pointing out big-tusked elephants traipsing across the landscape.
