SELF PORTRAIT Date and place of birth: March 25, 1935, Manila In high school I was the superintendent’s son — that’s not an easy job. My dad would tell the teachers, “You’ve got my son in your class; if you give him a whipping or you have to correct him, I want to know about it and I’ll do the same thing when he gets home.’’ I was not a good student.
