IT WAS Henry Ford who, among his other inventions, made the (in)famous claim that history is bunk, and once again, his point has been illustrated. This time by none other than the distinguished historian of the civil rights movement, Taylor Branch, who now has produced The Clinton Tapes, a book based on Bill Clinton’s various observations, speculations and hissy fits.
