Bella Vista has two rivals for road grant
Requests by Texarkana, W. Memphis far smaller

The proposed Bella Vista bypass has competition from two other Arkansas cities for a federal economic stimulus grant.
Texarkana and West Memphis also have applied for the TIGER discretionary grants, which stands for Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery.
Texarkana requested $24.5 million, and West Memphis applied for $15.5 million.
The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department asked for a $145.4 million TIGER grant to help it build a 14.1-mile section of the proposed 18.9-mile Bella Vista bypass of U.S. 71, which has been planned for years but never has been fully funded. It’s the only TIGER grant application endorsed by the Highway Department.
