100 YEARS AGO Oct. 22, 1909 NEWPORT — In order to push to early success the plan for bettering the rivers of northeastern Arkansas the White, Black, and Cache River Improvement Association today was capitalized for $1,000,000, with shares of $1 each. The association adjourned at noon to meet early in next year at Cotton Plant.
