Words can hurt people regardless of the intent

An arrest warrant was filed Monday against Jerry Lennox, 24, who is accused by Fayetteville authorities of making threatening and inappropriate remarks during his time with the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. He has defended himself by stating that he says things for “shock and awe.” For the sake of argument, let’s say Lennox has a hard time thinking before he speaks. The reality is, yes, people make bad jokes sometimes. But usually those jokes don’t leave folks thinking twice about the sanity of the person making such off-the-wall statements.
