What was once just a far off vision came one step closer to becoming reality Friday, as the city of Elkins held groundbreaking ceremonies on a new public library.
With its current facility outdated and undersized, the city seized the opportunity to take over land previously occupied by the town’s City Hall and now hopes to move into a brand new building within the next six months.
“We’re just thrilled,” Elkins head librarian Susan Unger said. “We weren’t sure we were ever going to get here, but we have and we’re real excited about it.”
