Southwest reports $16 million loss

Airline blames third-quarter drop on one-time expenses

Southwest Airlines lost $16 million during the third quarter, blaming the performance on one-time expenses. Excluding fuel hedges and an early retirement program, the airline would have made a $23 million profit, it reported.
